Frantiskovy Lazne offers its healing waters 24 sources, the most popular and oldest of which is the spring františek, located in the heart of the city. He was the reason for organizing this Czech Spa.

It is known that the inhabitants of the neighboring Heba source františek was known for a long time. However, what diseases treated water from him, unknown to scientists. The fact that the fire that destroyed the town in the thirteenth century, deprived us of any data about the source and františek. But local archaeologists believe that this is a spring known by the Slavic tribes, the remains of villages, which were discovered during excavations.

Even before the official recognition of the healing qualities of the spring františek about this source was a tank. Water was brought in buckets. This was done by women living in Cheb. Next to this water storage is a small hotel which had a special room with ensuite. All wealthy residents Cheb ordered a water in clay vessels from this spring. They were filled immediately and sent the porters at the specified address. In General, there was a well-established business generating good income. Source strongly guarded from exposure to direct sunlight, which, according to local residents, could spoil the water, and from cattle that could with his hooves to contaminate the spring. The spring was surrounded by a fence and built over it a wooden shed.

In 1789, about the spring learned a great physician and scientist Adler, who studied the composition of water and insisted on the construction of more durable and reliable pavilion over them. Around the source, named in honor of the monarch, Franz begins to emerge a new city, now known as františkovy lázně. The Emperor, always patronizing the resort, has allocated funds for the construction on the source of copper roofs, decorated with the symbol of medicine.

About this spring you can see the statue of františek – little boy holding a fish.
