Spread over an area of 10 hectares is one of the biggest urban parks of Italy in relation to the number of urban population. It combines three zones – Mariconda, Mercatello and Quartiere Europe.

A characteristic feature of the Park are the small rivers that run through its territory, greenhouses, in which you can admire the cacti donated Salerno Fund Acquaviva, rock gardens, an artificial lake and canal. Huge space reserved for performances in the open air.

Special attention should be paid to the aforementioned collection of cacti collected by the famous family of Acquaviva and today the public domain of the city residents. It is in order to accommodate and provide for everyone to see this collection, the municipality of Salerno and decided to build the Park Mercatello greenhouse is a great place from an aesthetic point of view and present an artificially created ecosystem. Six months it took to prepare the soil, plant the cactus, to provide them with care and anti-parasitic t.d. Today, the collection, housed in the greenhouse and around it, you can see very rare species of plants – agave, Euphorbia, jade, echinococcosis and Echinocereus.
