Vlaška Church Photo: Vlaška Church

Vlaška Church is serving the Church with an old cemetery located in the historic centre of Cetinje. Was built in 1450. Officially, the Church is called the Nativity of the virgin. Because of the two names can lead to confusion, since in Cetinje is the Church called Vlaška, which is on Chepurko hill. The second Church belongs to the monastery of Cetinje.

Its name "Vlaška" the Church received from once living here peoples – Vlachs (or Vlachs), who were the Eastern Roman Orthodox population of the Balkans. The legend explains the name of the Church because it was built in the mid-fifteenth century by shepherds, because Serbian "shepherds" is "vlasi".

How the Church looks today, the merit of the reconstructions carried out since the mid-nineteenth century. However, in the Church to this day has preserved the unique frescoes of the Greek school.

The cemetery surrounding the Church is the fence made of 2,000 trophy rifles produced during the Montenegrin-Turkish wars. In 1939, opposite the Church erected a monument to "the Soul Lovcen". This monument erected in honor of those killed in the shipwreck of the Montenegrins, who were returning from the Motherland, wanting to help compatriots in the First world war.
