Museum-estate Arkhangelskoye is located in the Krasnogorsk district of Moscow region, 20 km West of Moscow. This manor house is a unique monument of Russian culture. Base Arkhangelskoye refers to 1660 years when it was owned by J. N. Odoevsky. From 1681 until 1703, the estate belonged to M. Ya. Then proceeded Golitsyn, who owned the Archangel until 1810, when it was bought by N. B.Yusupov. Existing ensemble was founded N. And.Golitsyn in 1780-ies. In 1810 Archangel was bought by Prince N. B. Yusupov, a famous collector and art enthusiast.

The great Palace was created in the 80 years of the XVIII century by the French architect Charles de Gernon. In one of the wings housed the famous art gallery and a library of Prince Yusupov. In the 1790s by the project of the Italian D. Trombare in front of the Palace were arranged in three terraces with marble balustrades. On the terraces, flowerbeds, balustrade decorated with vases, statues, busts of ancient gods, heroes and philosophers. Worthy of framing of the Palace complex is the Park, thanks to which the estate is called the "Versailles near Moscow".

The stone Church of St. Michael the Archangel was built in 1660-ies on the site of the wooden Church of the XVI century. In the theatre, was built in 1817-1818 project P. Gonzago, preserved to our days the scenery and the curtain of the work of this famous Italian painter-decorator. The temple-tomb "Colonnade" is the latest construction on the estate, built in 1909-1916 after the death in a duel one of the Yusupovs, which, however, was never used as intended.

In 1919 the estate was converted into a history and art Museum-reserve. The unique part of the Museum Fund consists of: collection of Western European paintings of the XVII - XIX centuries (France, Italy, the Netherlands); a collection of Russian art is relatively small and consists mainly of works of serfs masters; a small but very interesting collection of drawings; a collection of furniture of the XVIII - XIX centuries; objects of decorative art; a large book collection (nearly all the then existing industry knowledge (18 sections), the basis of the collection of French literature).
