Cathedral of the Holy Nativity of the Theotokos – Orthodox Church located in the old part of Veliko Tarnovo.

The Cathedral was built on the Foundation of the Church of the Nativity of the blessed virgin that stood here before. The previous Church was built by the outstanding Bulgarian architect Kolyo Ficheto in the period from 1842 to 1844. It was a three-nave building of hewn stone and brick. Large Windows are oval and wide eaves makes him unique. Unfortunately, as a result of a strong earthquake April 1, 1913, the Church was completely destroyed.

In 1933-1934 the years on this place was erected a new Cathedral. The architectural decision of the Church of the Holy Nativity of the virgin is a Church of the cross-domed type in which the premises form the shape of a cross. On the roof of the nave is the large dome. Above the spacious covered porch in the front of the building stands the bell tower. The new Church became the center of a small square in the old part of Veliko Tarnovo.

In 1954, the painters D. Godunov, N. Kozhuharov, P. Surfers and painter A. Velev from the city of Tarnovo decorated the vaulted temple paintings. Carved iconostasis and Bishop's throne – the work of a talented master D. Kosheleva.
