Vucedol is a typical monument of Croatian culture, which belong to the late Neolithic (Eneolithic). The monument is located on the banks of the Drava river five miles downstream (South) from Vukovar.

Literally translated Vucedol means "wolf valley". Found this place Josip Branched, former Director of the archaeological Museum in Zagreb. In 1897 there were conducted the first excavations. During excavations in Lucedale found a large number of richly decorated pottery. Most of the finds dated to 3000-2600 BC One of the characteristic forms vucedolska pottery was a form of a dove. Subsequently mucedola dove became the symbol of this place and all vucedolska culture in General. This finding is attributed to 2800-2500 years B. C. today it is kept in the archaeological Museum of Zagreb.

Other features of the local pottery is contrasting in-depth (notched) ornament filled pasta in white on the black background of the product.

Another well-known finding is a ceramic bowl, according to the researchers which is an ancient calendar. Such findings, archaeologists due to the fact that the Cup is applied four horizontal stripes, divided into 12 fields. In Lucedale were also found copper products, such as axes and daggers.

In 2010 in Vukovar opened archaeological Museum Vucedol. Museum visitors can admire hundreds of prehistoric artifacts.
