The Catholic Church of the assumption of the blessed virgin Mary is a magnificent Catholic Church built in late Baroque style in 1767-1783 years. It is a stone three-aisled Basilica with two tiered towers.

According to an ancient legend (confirmed by information from Chronicles), in 1504 in place, which later became the city of Budslav, came four monks, who in addition to axes and certificates granted to them by Alexander Yagellonchik, there was nothing. The monks did not know how to build housing, so he built a strange hut and began to pray. Belarusian words hut sounds like Budan. Hence the name of the city of Budslav.

In 1588 over monastic cells have seen an unprecedented divine sign. From the shining cloud appeared the virgin Mary with the Baby in her arms and said: "Since that time the glory of our God and of my Son, and my protection will be given to you forever".

In Budslav the Church houses one of the greatest Catholic shrines – Budslav icon of the Mother of God. In 1996 Pope John Paul II declared the icon of the patron Saint of Belarus. The feast in honor of the Holy icon is celebrated every year on 2 June. The temple attracts pilgrims not only from all over Belarus, but also from other countries.

In 1994 John Paul II Budslav Church has the status of "minor Basilica" (basiliсa minoris). This honor for the Church the title is assigned by the Vatican only to special temples in very rare cases, to emphasize the critical role of the Catholic Church for Catholics. Large Basil there are only 5 (only in Rome and Jerusalem).

In a side chapel of the Church, built in 1643, there is a unique altar with paintings and 20 sculptures.
