Etar architectural-historical Museum complex, located 9 km from Gabrovo. It is located directly under the open sky. The Museum aims to make the guests of the complex, the view of the life, culture, crafts and architecture of Gabrovo and the region in General, in the period from the eighteenth to the nineteenth century. "Ether" is the first Museum complex of this plan in Bulgaria, it was opened in 1964. Three years later, he became a national Park, and in 1971 the newspaper "State Gazette" No. 101 declared a monument of culture.

The author of the idea and project – Lazar Donkov, under whose leadership the Museum has begun to build in 1963. On site first restored the existing water mill, and after started to build other objects. Overall, the Museum was replenished mainly in three ways: restoration of facilities at the site, transfer structures without any changes, copy the original objects.

The Museum combines 50 vintage objects. Among them, water features and a house in which there are craft shops. It is here collected 10 objects, mechanisms which are driven by water. This collection is among the richest and most technically perfectly organized exhibits among similar public museums in Europe. The Museum staff managed to preserve the authentic principle of structure and action of all mechanisms (mill, winepress and sucefully), which is the main feature of the Museum "Etara". Because of this symbol is the water wheel.

In the ethnographic village of Etar, on the street of merchants and artisans, are copies of the 16 houses that once existed in Gabrovo and the surrounding area. Here you can watch the work of these artisans and learn how, in past centuries, made pottery, various dishes, botalov for livestock, as well as were made of skins and furs, and more. Visitors, after exploring the intricacies of the craft, can purchase what they created products. The complex also accepts applications for training in traditional Bulgarian crafts.

The complex has a hotel and a restaurant which serves traditional cuisine of the area, prepared according to ancient Bulgarian recipes.
