The Bacho Kiro cave is one of the most visited Bulgarian caves. It is situated near the town of Dryanovo, in close proximity to the monastery of the Holy Archangel Michael. The natural cave is in a limestone cliff, above the sea level at 335 metres.
As a result of research it was discovered that here in prehistoric times lived people. Archaeologists have found the remains of dwellings, tools, and seeds and tools. During the Ottoman yoke with this cave have been associated with numerous superstitions, who argued that there are rampant evil spirits and dark forces. The cave was first adapted in Bulgaria as a tourist destination, it was rebuilt in 1937, and in 1940 it is named after Bulgarian national hero, revolutionary Bacho Kiro – poet, traveler and teacher who participated in the April uprising in 1876. In 1962 the cave Bacho Kiro included in the list of hundreds of Bulgarian national tourist sites.
Experienced guides conduct tours inside the cave. For the two routes. One of them, a length of 700 meters, takes about 70 minutes, the second half as long is 350 metres away and about half an hour. A stroll along the route are only available for groups of more than fifteen people. The Bacho Kiro cave is a labyrinth of galleries and their deviations, whose length is about three and a half thousand meters.
Cave of the river over the millennia has shaped halls and galleries, and talectomy, stalagmites and stalactites acquired bizarre. In the Bacho Kiro cave created special lighting on tourist routes. It helps to effectively make a cave of the rock formations, the most interesting of which are the Elephant, jellyfish, Stone flower, Lone stelacon. Also recommended to visit the halls – Reception, Concert and Rainy.
