The parish Church of Holy Trinity was founded right in the centre of Gniezno, near the Market square and was not meant for the upper class, and for artisans, merchants, money lenders, farmers and other common people. She was opposed to the Cathedral, which was built for the kings and nobles of nobles. Church of the Holy Trinity appeared on the street Parish in 1420-1430.
The Gothic Church was seriously damaged from one of the fires, which were considered the scourge of medieval towns. The Church was restored in 1613 in a Baroque manner, and in 1687 there was built a Gothic tower topped with a Baroque dome with a spire. The bell tower housed a clock with chimes. They are still working daily at 12.00 and 15.00 and play a tune in honor of our lady.
The South aisle was added to a small chapel of the Literary brotherhood. If we go around the Church on the West side, then on its facade you can see the narrow Windows, characteristic of the Gothic era.
The Church of the Holy Trinity is not as ornate as a Cathedral, but it is also worth a visit during a visit in Gniezno.
In the interior of the Church are mainly furniture and decorative art objects that were made in the eighteenth century: for example, the font or the Baroque pulpit, made in 1787. However, there is also an earlier Church artifacts. These include the altar of the chapel of the Literary fraternity, which was established in the first quarter of the seventeenth century, or the door, blocking the entrance to the sacristy. It is made of iron and dated the first half of the XV century.
