Market in Anjuna Photo: Market in Anjuna

Anjuna is a small village on the beautiful coast of the smallest Indian state of Goa. One of the attractions that attract the largest number of tourists in this small town is famous flea market, which is arranged at one of the gorgeous beaches of Anjuna, close to the main road, every Wednesday. There receives such a huge amount of people, traffic congestion, vehicular traffic stops on almost all day. It is noteworthy that in this place you can not only buy but also sell: anyone wanting to trade at the flea market of Anjuna, you just have to pay 100 rupees for a seat.

There was this market in the 1960-ies, during the hippie who became a kind of "organizers". They always come to the beach of Anjuna, was going in the company, listened to music, danced and sang until the morning. Immediately they sometimes had to sell their own things to get money on accommodation. Since then, this area was chosen by the sellers of all sorts of goods.

In this market you can purchase a huge amount of stuff: a variety of Souvenirs, clothing, jewelry, pipes for Smoking, coconut carved candle holders, books, stationery, belts, scarves, ritual paraphernalia, dolls, rugs, furniture, dishes, appliances, things like handmade and factory-made, new and pre-owned. In addition, in this place, at every step there are people selling prohibited goods – stolen equipment and drugs. But private police raids cause them to behave very carefully.

The main rule that should be followed while on this market, one has to bargain for even the smallest little thing.

Here it is possible to make a commemorative tattoo, temporary using henna or permanent.
