Military cemetery in Grodno was organized in 1888. It found a final resting place of the soldiers of different nationalities and different armies. This land forever reconciled them after death.
At the cemetery there is the Alley of Heroes of the Soviet Union. Modest red ceramic plates with gilded names and heroic star and next to each memorial on a slender white birch. Around manicured green lawn and blue spruce. Here and all glory to the heroes.
Strict concrete square of the mass grave. On the sides of the white marble slabs with the names of soldiers and officers who died during the great Patriotic war. Of the several dozen names.
Nearby is the grave of Polish soldiers. Here were buried the military in the years 1918-1939. Neat green field with a stone Catholic crosses, military neat and modest. Looks weird this field of death amid the peaceful houses.
The cross, and beneath it the land of Katyn. Black marble slab with dozens of names. There is always wreaths and fresh flowers.
The oldest burial – chapel over the grave of major General of the Russian army, Marshal of the nobility of Grodno district and honorary magistrate Grodno counties of Alexander Aleksandrovich Russow.
Buried here and the soldiers who participated in the battle of Grodno in September 1939.
In this cemetery are buried and also the German soldiers who died on the battlefields of the First and Second world wars.
For cemetery care as community service and volunteers from local and foreign youth Patriotic clubs. On the graves of soldiers come the guys from Poland and Germany.
