The bathhouse is located on a promontory at the junction of the rivers Mosoni-Duna and Slaves, with a magnificent view of the historic center of the city. A forerunner of today's thermal baths was open-air bath, which was built by the project of Alfred Giosa in 1931, occupied an area of 5 hectares and operated to this day.

The therapeutic effect of the waters of győr was mentioned in medieval Chronicles. In 1978 sources of győr from the depths of 2000 meters and a water temperature of 67 C have been certified as a therapeutic.
