In the South-Eastern part Vesalii lies mount Pelion (Pelion), or rather mountain range, forming a small Peninsula between the Pagasetic Gulf and the Aegean sea). Extremely beautiful, covered with dense vegetation, the slopes of Pelion with picturesque villages, snow-capped peaks, perfect for skiing, and spectacular coastline with excellent beaches attract huge number of tourists from all over the world.

This territory was inhabited since prehistoric times and is famous for its rich cultural and historical heritage. The important place of Pelion and is in Greek mythology. According to legend, it was here were centaurs led the wise Chiron and unfolded many known events of ancient Greek myths. Interesting and modern port city of Volos (the capital of the Prefecture of MAGNISIA), lying at the foot of Pelion and its main attractions are the Archaeological Museum and the folk art Center Kitsos Makris.
