Artificial Hussain Sagar lake is one of the many wonders of the city of Hyderabad, located in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It was created in 1562 by order of the Governor of the Principality of Hyderabad Ibrahim Quli Qutb Shah, on a tributary of the river Musi, for the purpose of supplying the city with water. Its area at that time amounted to 5, 7 sq. km.
The name of the pond is named in honor of Hussain Shah Wali, the man who helped the ruler to recover from a serious illness. The lake is a kind of connecting link between city biznesami – Hyderabad and Secunderabad. Along named after Mahatma Gandhi road-embankment, separating them, there are 33 statues of prominent figures in the state. Unfortunately, at the moment they are partially destroyed. Especially wonderful this highway at night when it is lit with many colored lights, for which it is also called "diamond necklace" of the city.
On one of the shores of the lake is wonderful Lumbini Park, which is famous for its musical fountains, as well as located on its territory, the beautiful Birla Mandir.
Right in the middle of the Hussain Sagar lake is its main attraction – a huge statue of Buddha made of solid stone, whose height is 18 meters. The idea of the exaltation of the monument appeared in 1985. 450-ton figure of the Buddha was carved from a solid piece of white granite for two years, and it worked for about two hundred and sculptors. In 1988, the statue was brought to Hyderabad, and in 1992, on April 12, it was installed on a pedestal in the shape of the red Lotus.
