Great Ashalchinskoye lake located between the villages of Salty and Berezovsky Yaltinskogo district, is one of the main natural attractions of the Republic of Kalmykia. Popularly it is called as Salt lake.

This lake belongs to the Manych lake group (Lopukhovatoye, Manych-Gudilo, Swan) relict origin. Manych group of reservoirs are very numerous, but Salt lake is unique.

The total area of Large Yaltinskogo the lake is quite large - about 40 sq. km. and Its width is 5 km, and the length is 8 km and is Fed to the reservoir through leaching by rain, groundwater and flood water soil marine sediments.
