Far Eastern art Museum, Khabarovsk is the largest in the Russian far East the state collection of works of fine art. The Museum is housed in the old building of the former Officers ' meeting.
The idea of creating the first "public gallery" in the East of Russia emerged at the dawn of the twentieth century the Main initiator was made by the Governor-General, a future member of the State Council and military writer N. I. Grodekov. The Museum was founded in 1931 on the basis of different income from the stocks of the State Tretyakov gallery, State Russian Museum, the Hermitage, the Historical Museum, the Museum of fine arts named after A. Pushkin and other Russian collections. The Museum immediately became the main centre of cultural life in Khabarovsk.

A core collection of modern art is the works of foreign and Russian artists of the second half of the twentieth century includes representatives of classical genres, artists, avant-garde and innovative directions.
