The house-Museum of ataman Fyodor Bursak in Krasnodar is one of the few buildings where the maximum retained the appearance and internal layout of the rich Cossack houses 200 years ago. There is another similar house that belonged to the Cossack ataman I. Kukharenko. Both houses are small, one-story, quite similar to the palaces of atamans of the XIX-XX centuries. And this is their historical value. For Ekaterinoslav (formerly Krasnodar) beginning of the XIX century such modest by our standards, the house was considered a real mansion.
House F. M. Bursak was built near the fortress and was noticeably different from others squat houses. And Fyodor Bursak was not just a rich Cossack – this was the famous ataman of the Kuban. Future ataman was born in the family of a Ukrainian priest in 1750 g. Participated in the coronation of Paul I. In 1800 g. he was promoted to the rank of black sea Cossack ataman. For zeal in the public service and success in the reconciliation surrounding the Kuban wild tribes, painstaking diplomatic work he was awarded the order of St. Anna 1-St and 2-nd degree. In 1816 g.received major-General, resigned. His hospitable home was visited by generals Ermolov and Rajewski, poets Pushkin and Lermontov, the Decembrists. In 1827. he drowned in the river Kuban.
