One of the attractions of the city of Lutsk is the exaltation of the cross Church, which is located in the historical and cultural reserve "Old Lutsk" at street str., 2.

In XVII century the Church was part of the architectural ensemble of the buildings of Holy cross brotherhood, which also included the monastery buildings, schools and hospitals. The founders of Lutsk brotherhood of steel Volyn nobles, among whom was the founder of the Kyiv brotherhood'shka Gulevichivna. Donations of this law of philanthropist and was built in 1619-1622, the main temple of the brotherhood, with a strong defensive character. The building is a classic example wooden trehsrubnaya triceps temple, showing the transition of wooden architecture to the stone. Three domes of the Church was emphasized by the three-axis composition of the temple. The outside porch had the form of a tower defense with a ladder that led to the arch.

In 1803 the Church was damaged by fire. A year later, the monastery was dismantled before the altar, and the remains were sold as building material. In 1888 this place was built a chapel, and by 1890 was entirely rebuilt and the Church itself, which included survivors of the ancient apse with reinforcing frieze preserved XVII century niches with ogee-shaped, typical of architecture in Volyn. The Church is crowned by a dome. After a while the walls were painted with the image of former Holy cross Church.

Due to fires and reconstructions of the monument changed its outward appearance. Now the building is stone, of rectangular form, with a porch on the West and a semicircular apse in the East. The Church building strengthen two of the buttress. The Central part of the Church is crowned by a brick dome, which rests on the arches over the five internal niches. The external wall of the apse is decorated with a frieze of keeled niches.

Today, Holy cross Church belongs to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Kyiv Patriarchate.
