The Museum of Arts and Science, University of Santo Tomas is the oldest existing Museum in the Philippines. It was founded in the 17th century as a repository mineralogical, Botanical and biological collections of the University. In accordance with the ancient Spanish law on education, collections were used as teaching materials in the field of teaching courses in medicine and pharmacy.

In 1871, Ramon Martinez, a member of the Dominican order and Professor of natural history, founded the University Museum of Arts and Science – he is considered to be its Creator. However, in fairness it should be noted that systematically replenish the collection began in 1682, a Dominican monk de Casteau Eleru, he was the first Creator of the Museum catalogue.

Today, this oldest Philippine Museum is a repository of scientific and artistic treasures, including works of art. Since 1941, the administration of the Museum acquires works of Filipino artists, such as Fernando and Pablo Amorsolo, Carlos Francisco, Vicente Manansala, and Galo Ocampo, in the collection of paintings contains works by masters of the 17th-20th centuries. A number of permanent exhibitions of the Museum devoted to natural history, Ethnography, religious art of the Filipinos, the objects of Oriental art. It also boasts an impressive collection of coins, medals and memorabilia.

In the building of the Museum has a gallery, a gift shop, a small library and laboratory. Regularly there are various art exhibitions.
