Ruzhany Palace – the majestic ruins of the residence of the mighty clan of the Sapieha family. The original Palace built by Lev Sabagay, up to our days has not been preserved. It was destroyed during the war with the Swedes in the beginning of XVIII century.

In the early 1770s, Alexander Sapieha was invited to restore the family Palace of the architect Jan Becker. He offered to build a new Grand Palace in Ruzhany in the classical style. From the old Palace was only one defensive tower.

We can only guess how beautiful was the Palace in the years of its heyday, when it was surrounded by a Park, where flowers bloomed, and the main gate was moved lacquered carriages pulled by horses. The castle was the theatre, which was even the Royal box. Did theater serfs.

The castle was rich library consisting of books written in 10 languages, and the interior was amazed by its luxury. There were French tapestries and cups made of rock crystal, marble and bronze sculptures, mosaic paintings, expensive furniture. Was in the castle art gallery and its own greenhouse.

The decline began after the third partition of the Commonwealth, when the Palace was taken by the Russian Treasury. In it were organized and cloth weaving factory. During the First World war, fearing a possible occupation, the owner of factories evacuated their possessions, and the Palace was ordered to burn.

Now we can talk only about the ruins of Ruzhany Palace, but has already started reconstruction of the Palace and Park complex. Maybe soon we will see the magnificent residence of the Sapieha family in its full splendor.

Until now there are a variety of legends about Ruzhany treasures. They say that the Palace Sapieha was not so simple. It was a lot of secrets, which was a great master architect Jan Becker. So, say that from Ruzhany castle to castle Kossovo was dug underground passage. Legends say that he was so great that it could easily pass one another two of the crew, and the darkness of the dungeon was dispelled by the lights. Speak, underground passage often used. For many years the legend lure in Ruzhany hunters of all nationalities and colors, however, nobody has as yet failed to detect any underground passage, nor the legendary treasure of the Sapieha family, who, allegedly, are still stored in the lock.
