The Krasnoyarsk hydroelectric power plant (HPP) is second on hydroelectric power in Russia. It is located on the Yenisei river, 40 kilometers from Krasnoyarsk, near the town of Divnogorsk. Krasnoyarsk hydroelectric dam is part of the Yenisei cascade.

Construction of the Krasnoyarsk hydroelectric power station began in 1956 and ended in 1972 the Project for HPP has developed the Leningrad branch of the Institute "Hydroenergoproject" (now JSC leninhydroproject). The complex of HPP is the only country in the lift. Long-term average generation of hydroelectric power is 18, 4 billion kWh, which on average covers about half of the Krasnoyarsk territory's demand of electricity.

In the area of the hydrosystem river valley takes the form of a canyon with a width at the water's edge up to 750 m. the Channel and steep banks of the river are composed of hard rocks, which serve as the basis for a high dam.

Hydroelectric dam gravity. Its total crest length of about 1072, 5 m. the Maximum height of the drainage channel 128 m (medium 117 m). The total weight of the dam is 15 million tons. In the station part of the dam are the conduits in the form of metal pipes with diameter 7, 5 m, through which water is supplied to the turbine. The capacity of the machine room is twelve units. The generator receives mechanical energy from water turbines. After the generator converts it into electricity, which is passed on rails in step-up transformers and then the switchyard and the transmission lines electricity is supplied to consumers.

The work units are continuously monitored by the Central control unit - the "brain center" of hydroelectric power. On the left Bank is longitudinally lift-tilting type with a so-called rotary device. Transportation of vessels is carried out using a self-propelled ship-carrying chamber. The dam forms the Krasnoyarsk hydroelectric reservoir.

Krasnoyarsk hydroelectric power station is the most visited attraction in Krasnoyarsk Krai.
