Exposure Mariupol art Museum named after A. Kuindzhi — Department of the Museum of local history - illuminates the life and work of the famous Mariupol – artist Kuindzhi Arkhip Ivanovich and showcases works of art created by Ukrainian masters of painting of the 20th century.

The decision on the establishment of an Art Museum. A. I. Kuindzhi was postponed from year to year throughout the 20th century. And the idea of its opening appeared when in the middle of 1914 to the city Council of Mariupol came a letter in which the Moscow branch of the society of artists. A. I. Kuindzhi was proposed to the city of ten paintings of the famous masters. However, the premises for the placement of paintings in the city then, was not found.

Passed war, changed the government, but the Museum remained in the plans. And only in October 2010, a century after the death of the great artist Kuindzhi Arkhip Ivanovich, in his hometown, opened the doors of the art Museum in his name.

The building where the Museum is located in a mansion built in 1902 in the style of Nordic modernism. As a result of the nationalization of the building was given to the library, and later from the Historical archive of the party. In world war II the mansion was partially destroyed, and later rebuilt in 1997 and transferred to the municipal property of the city Museum under the branch. Art collection of the Museum includes about 2,000 items, including graphic works, paintings, decorative art and sculpture.
