Kurapaty – the place of mass burial of the victims of Stalinist repression. In this tract in 1937-41, the NKVD officers shot people who were later exonerated, and their innocence was proven. The memorial to the victims of Stalinist repression began to be created in 1988.

For a long time the place that became a mass grave to many innocent people, was strictly classified. Daredevil, who published the truth about Kurapaty in the media, he risked his life. So bravely became Zyanon Paznyak. He wrote an article "Kurapaty – the road of death" and published in the magazine "art and Literature" June 3, 1988. The scandal has raised long-hushed topic. The Communist party, which at that time still was in power, tried to hush up the scandal, but he has already received international political resonance.

In place of the Kurapaty site, conducted archaeological research, which confirmed that there were shot about 7 thousand people. Now installed in Kurapaty monuments, public events are held. People come to honor the innocent victims counterparts.

In 1993 Kurapaty were included in the State list of historical and cultural values of the Republic of Belarus, however, the political passions around the tract unabated to this day.

Kurapaty surrounded on all sides by wooden crosses. Through the tract is a dirt road with two sides fenced crosses. On the territory there are a lot of monuments, both Orthodox and people of other faiths and nationalities. In particular, many on-site of Kurapaty monuments to the dead Jews.
