Moscow drama theatre. A. S. Pushkin is located in the centre of Moscow, Tsvetnoy Boulevard. The theatre was founded in 1950 on the basis of the Chamber theatre, founded in 1914 by Alexander Tairov, along with his wife, Alice UNC. In 1949 Tairov was dismissed, and the theatre closed. At this theatre and was organized in 1950 Moscow drama theatre. A. S. Pushkin. Headed the theater people's artist of the USSR Vasily Vanin.

Created a new troupe, which partially entered and artists from the former members. The leading actors in the company were: B. P. Chirkov, B. A. Smirnov, A. D. Wild, M. M. Nazvanov. The main Director of the theater in the late sixties – early seventies were B. A. Babochkin and I. M. Tumanov.

From 2001 to 2010, the artistic Director of the Moscow drama theatre n. a. A. S. Pushkin was Roman Kozak – honored artist of Russia, a student of Oleg Efremov. In 2010, after his death, chief Director was appointed Yevgeny Pisarev. He is the chief Director of the theater these days.
