To see another Olomouc Palace, need to go again to the Mountain area. Next door to city Hall is a Renaissance mansion, once owned by the mayor of Olomouc václav Edelmann. In 1572 he purchased two of the old house on the main shopping area of the city, which decided to demolish and build in their place a residential Palace for his family.
When they finished, is not precisely known, although historians believe that it happened in 1586, when V. Edelman ordered production of your own coat of arms to place it above the entrance of the Palace.
Distinctive features of the Palace are considered to be the window, decorated in the form of arches, and several bas-reliefs installed on the facade. They depict scenes from the old and New Testaments.
In 1719, the Palace came under the jurisdiction of local municipal authorities, who used it to host various urban services. So, in 1816, there was the office of the Olomouc fortress. Here not once been legendary commander, the General and the commandant of the fortress of J. Th. V. Radetsky. This can be seen from the memorial plaque that adorns the facade of the Palace of Edelmann. She was placed on the wall of the mansion in 1892.
Over time, the Palace has undergone continuous renovations and alterations. It expanded, completed, modified, adapting to the demands of bureaucrats. In the years 1850-1853 to the Palace attached outbuilding. It was at this time the town Council temporarily moved into the mansion.
Another significant reconstruction took place in the 30-ies of XX century. Since then, the Palace is almost rebuilt.
