Architectural reserve in the village of Shiroka Luka is located in the Rhodope mountains, 16 km from the resort of Pamporovo and 23 from the town of Smolyan.

The basis of Shiroka Luka belongs to the XVII century, and the name of the village comes from the old Bulgarian word "bast" which means bending. The architectural appearance of the village is an excellent example of the Bulgarian Revival and thriving folk music culture, which, coupled with scenic places annually attracts many tourists.

Typical Rhodope two-story house with Bay Windows and internal wooden stairs are located amphitheatrically on both sides of the river. Famous for the perfectly preserved village and folk traditions – it is the birthplace of famous singers and pipers, the followers of the Rhodope folklore. In 1972 took place the opening of the National school of folklore arts.

Every first Sunday in March the village is Respondent" – festival of mummers (kukeri): a giant monster with red wooden swords in their hands dancing in the streets, expelling the accumulated evil of the souls of men and their homes. The kukeri adorn yourself with garlic, peppers, and beans, and to a waist belt attached with special Rhodope bells, varying in size.
