Castle Balhousie is in Perth, Scotland. He is on the stone terrace above the city Park North Inch. The main buildings of the castle date back to the year 1631, although the castle on this spot was founded three hundred years before. The castle was surrounded by a wall. The owners of the castle did not live in it constantly, and by the early NINETEENTH century, the castle eventually fell into disrepair and in 1862-63 gg was rebuilt in the baronial style by the architect David Smart.

In 1962, the castle houses the headquarters and Museum of the Black Watch. 43rd infantry regiment, known as the Black watch is the oldest regiment of Scottish highlanders-Chilingarov. In 1667, by order of king Charles II formed the highland watch, which was subsequently dissolved, but in 1725, after the Jacobite uprising in 1715, king George II once again forms a Scottish regiment from the members of his loyal clans, the Campbells, Grants, Mazerov and Munroe. Six units were placed in the mountainous part of Scotland, their job was to prevent inter-clan conflicts, to prevent looting and to monitor the implementation of laws on disarmament of the population.

Then the regiment has taken part in many military campaigns abroad. His first battle – the battle of Fontenoy in 1745. Although British forces were defeated in this battle, bravery and fury with which he fought the Scottish regiment, was marked by all. Then there were military operations in India, America and back to Europe again. 42nd infantry regiment ( and by that time he was not 43rd, 42nd, and of its composition was selected second battalion under number 73) participated in the battle of Waterloo. The regiment distinguished itself in the Crimean and Boer war. During the Second world war Black watch fought wherever fought British troops from Palestine to Normandy. In the twenty-first century, the regiment continues to participate in military operations.

It is impossible to accurately say where did the name "Black watch". Most often it is attributed to the fact that shaped tartan (Scottish) regiment was dark colors, blue and green, as well as that shelf often had to patrol at night. Now this blue-green coloration of tartan and is called "Black watch". Another distinctive element of form is a bright red pen (Hackl) attached to a headdress.

The Museum features exhibits depicting the history of the Black watch, a lot of drawings, documents and photographs, regimental form different periods.
