Entertainment center Burswood located on the Swan river in the Perth suburb. The complex includes a casino, open 24 hours a day, 7 restaurants, 8 bars, a nightclub, a 5 star luxury hotel "InterContinental" and 4-star hotel "Holiday Inn", a conference hall and a theatre.
The beginning of the complex was started in 1984, when local businessman Dallas Dempster decided to build a casino on the island of Burswood on the Swan river, 3 km East of Perth. Earlier this place was occupied by the landfill for municipal solid waste, which created certain difficulties in the development of complex project because of the risk of a possible failure of the soil and washing away of technical water in the nearby river.
The construction permit was obtained in March 1985, and the work started. By the end of the year – December 30 – the opening of the casino, which was the largest in Australia and the third largest in the world. In the first two months of profits from the operation of casino reached 1 million Australian dollars a day! It far exceeded all anticipated revenues. By January 1987, the number of visitors to the site reached three million people.
In August 1987, has opened a sports stadium Burswood Dome, becoming the largest in the southern hemisphere, the area of 8800 m? can accommodate almost 14 thousand people. And in couple of months has opened its doors hotel Burswood Island Hotel and conference space. In 2003, the hotel came into the possession of the international group "InterContinental Hotels Group" and was appropriately renamed. Then was built the second hotel room 291 – "Holiday Inn".
Today around the entertainment complex is a small Park where you can admire wild flowers, various sculptures and play Golf.
