The aquarium of Western Australia located just 20 minutes ' walk from Perth city centre in the Gulf of Hillarys-boat.
The story of its creation is very interesting: in the 1970s, the entrepreneur Morris Kahn along with his son went diving in the Red sea. At some point the boy began to quickly rise to the surface, and the father to help him avoid decompression sickness, sharply swam after him and as a result hurt their eardrums. The remaining leave Maurice Kahn spent on the beach, where he began to think about how to move the underwater marine life of the oceans to the shore to admire her could who for one reason or another is unable to dive. So the idea of creating an amusement Park, "Coral world", offices were opened in many countries of the world.
In 1991, Maurice Kahn purchased in Perth Park "Underwater world", in its place to build a huge aquarium with close to natural habitat conditions. His ideas was to make people feel on the bottom of the ocean! I must say that the company Kahn did it – today "Coral World International, is a recognized authority in the field of reconstruction of complex marine ecosystems and growing corals in an artificial way.
In 2001 "Underwater world" was renamed the "Aquarium of Western Australia - AQWA. Today it can be acquainted with the diversity and splendor of marine flora and fauna of the coastline of Western Australia. The exposition is divided into five sections, which recreates various ecosystems: Great South coast, the Coast of Perth, Marine Park Marmion, the Shipwreck Coast and the far North. In the area of far North visitors are invited to discover one of the most remote regions of the world inhabited by dangerous marine animals – blue lipoplasty Stingray, clown fish, crocodiles and deadly poisonous stonefish. On the Shipwreck Coast, you can meet the inhabitants of the warm waters of the Indian ocean – sharks, huge stingrays, turtles, and admire the limestone reefs, teeming with diverse marine fauna. The coast of Perth is an amazing ancient reefs and sandy bays, where jellyfish and cuttlefish scurry among live corals. Here you can see octopuses, lobsters, sea horses and other residents of the Perth coastal waters. Great South coast invites you to plunge into the cold depths of the southern ocean to see there's a mystical sea dragons, delicate corals, iridescent sponges, unique fish-devils and fish-ball. Finally, in marine Park, Marmion you can swim in the pool along with some sea creatures, visit Bay Rays and relax in the coral lagoon. For 20 years the aquarium has been visited more than 5 million people!
