Villa Kinsky Photo: Villa Kinsky

For his summer residence of the aristocratic family Kinsky chose a good place – close to the centre of Prague, on the green petřín hill, where there is bliss and tranquility and where does not reach the noise of the big city.

The plot for the future of the Villa was bought in 1799. Then the princes Kinsky started to create the garden, which, according to their idea, was to surround a summer residence.

Two-storey Villa in the Empire style was built in a very short period – 5 years (during 1827-1831.). The building looks very impressive and solid, its facade is decorated with Doric columns, emphasizing the rigor of the design of the Villa. On the roof of the first floor has a terrace where the owners arranged the tea party.

In parallel to the master's house was built stables (Kinsky were known for breeding sport horses), farm buildings, greenhouses.

Currently the Villa is not empty. It is a branch of the National Museum, which demonstrates the show entitled Musaion. It is dedicated to the Czech national culture, so here you can see the old clothes, furniture, folk art, household items, dishes. On the ground floor are the workshops, where visitors are shown how to create a particular subject goods.

There is also a lounge, where year-round Christmas attributes are demonstrated, including Nativity scenes.

On certain days are held at the Villa holidays in traditional style, the musical groups performing folk songs, there are various thematic exhibitions.
