Holy Trinity Varnitsky monastery was founded in 1427 Rostov Archbishop Ephraim on the place where was the parental home of St. Sergius of Radonezh. The monastery is located on the northwestern outskirts of Rostov the Great, in the village of Boilers. The monastery circle surrounded by a stone wall in the shape of a quadrilateral, the corners of the fence towering stone tower pyramidal tent shape.
The Cathedral, with its three-tiered bell tower above the porch was built in 1771. Right altar was consecrated in the name of St. Sergius and Nikon, abbots Radonezhsky; left - in the name of saints Athanasius and Cyril, Patriarchs of Alexandria. The walls and vaults of the temple were decorated with plaster cartouches with picturesque scenes. Each chapel had carved gilded iconostasis with sacred images. Many of the icons that were in the temple, were also decorated with silver settings and inserted in a gilt carved Kyoto, arranged through charitable donations.
The Church in honor of the presentation of the blessed virgin Mary was built in 1828 at the southern wall of the fence, to the right of the Holy gate. The Church had two aisles: the right - in the name of the Holy prophet Elijah, the left - in the name of the Apostle and Evangelist John the theologian.
By the second half of the nineteenth century, the architectural ensemble of the monastery has been completed. In the North-Western part of the monastery were constructed two small stone houses: Abbot's rooms and the monks ' cells. On the North wall of the fence was located one-storey stone building of the refectory.
After the revolution the monastery was closed and looted. Trinity Cathedral, the bell tower, the cemetery and the walls of the monastery were destroyed. Vvedenskaya Church rebuilt. In 1995 the monastery was returned to the Church and the revival of the monastery. In it is undergoing restoration work.
