Medina of Sfax is located in the heart of the city and surrounded by high jagged stone walls, built in the mid-tenth century. Founded in IX century by Sultan Ahmed Ibn El Aghlab, this area (one of the few medieval cities of Tunisia has managed to avoid global reconstructions and is preserved in almost original form.
