Szczawno-zdrój is a Spa town in lower Silesian Voivodeship in South-Western Poland. Before 1945 there were in Germany. Szczawno-zdrój is located to the North of the Sudeten mountains, 66 km South-West of Wroclaw.

This is one of the oldest Spa towns in Lower Silesia. It is rich in medicinal sodium bicarbonate and calcium sources. For the first time the healing properties of water in Szczawno-zdrój were discovered court physician Caspar Sinkfilter in 1598.

The first mention of the village was found in the papers of Henry I the Bearded, which date in the year 1221. Initially, the village belonged to the Duchy of Wrocław, and after the construction of the castle at the end of the thirteenth century, Szczawno-zdrój began to evolve.

In 1392, the lands passed into the hands of the Czech king Wenceslas. In 1509 the territory was acquired by Conrad von Hochberg, whose descendants owned and Szczawno-zdrój until 1931.

In 1946 the city was included in the newly-formed province of wrocław.

Now Szczawno-zdrój is a popular Polish resort with a unique historical centre, where you can see buildings Dating from the thirteenth century. The complex of buildings of the Spa was built in 1822-1894 years, which includes a pavilion, a hall for bathing, pumping station, gazebos and Park in the first quarter of the twentieth century. Other attractions include the clock tower, built in 1818, the Jewish cemetery and parish Church of the assumption 1937.
