In the early twentieth century was actively Petrograd side of St. Petersburg. The architectural dominant of the area of Leo Tolstoy was the so-called House with towers. Rosenstein, who participated in the redevelopment of this area. It was he who initiated the project of the apartment building, composed of a planning decision. Black, who was fond of the middle ages, therefore, to offer the option of styling the design of the building under English castle. The main facade is decorated with two symmetrical hexagonal tower, which rises above the main body of the building. Since the 1950s, the building has acquired the status of a monument of architecture. Since 1972 the building was transferred to the Leningrad television Studio. In 1978 the lower floor of the building was remodeled into a theater room with auditorium with 220 seats. Since 1996, today the building houses a theatre "Russian enterprise" of A. Mironov".
