Troitsko-Pechorsk district local history Museum named after A. N. Popov is a scientific educational and research institution, which is the main repository of historical monuments, objects of spiritual and material culture of PrimeCare. The Museum was born and developed thanks to the efforts of local historians and enthusiasts, namely Alexander Nikolayevich Popov – teacher of mathematics high school Troitsko - Pechorsk.

The opening of the national Museum took place in October 1957, it was allocated a separate building, which was formerly home to the clergy of Trinity Church. The Name Of A. N. Popov Museum was awarded in 1982 as a tribute of appreciation and gratitude to the patriot. In 1982 the decision of the district Executive Committee Troitsko-Pechorsk for the Museum, a new building was constructed on the site of the former secondary school № 1 in the street Soviet.

For the entire period of its existence, the Museum has amassed about 7 thousand exhibits, most of them are represented in the collections of the Museum. In the exposition, devoted to flora and fauna, presents the flora and fauna of the area. Here can be seen the effigy of the black woodpecker, gray crane, owl, eagle, ermine and other fauna. In the exposition, dedicated to the founder of the Museum, presents documents, photographs, awards, which belonged to Alexander Nikolayevich Popov.

Archaeological Museum the archaeological maps of the area, which shows 89 of primitive people, you can see a diorama of the "Kani cave sanctuary" presents fragments of pottery, bone and flint arrowheads, the tooth of a mammoth, and more. Ethnographic exhibition consists of genuine everyday items of the local population, which the Museum has about 600. Here you can see various species of wood and bark dishes, Komi clothes, fishing and hunting supplies, calendar, etc. In the Museum is a large geological collection, as well as scientific work and photographs of the Pechora-Ilych nature reserve.

The whole history of the area in the Museum is divided into themes: "Past and present of Komi culture and traditions", "Troitsko-Pechora Gulag island", "let's Bow to those great years! ". In the exhibition hall of the Museum has temporary exhibitions: "the Pride of Troitsko-Pechorsk, "the river Ilych", "Sources of talent – native land", "Ural gems", "Descendants of Maxim", etc. There are exhibitions of decorative-applied art of Panfilovich N. And., Davydov A. N., Cosmin V. G.; A. K. Larina, artists - Belotserkovsky, I. A., E. V. Mezentseva, Bulatskiy V. I., Shvetsov V. G., Y. Samodurov, Bazhukova F. D. Kulaeva G. N., Podolina N. And., Balkovoy E. N. and others In the Museum keeps valuable materials on the history, economy and nature of this region of the old medieval book of 17-19 centuries, ethnographic and numismatic collections, originals and copies of various historical documents.

In the historical Museum gathers material related to such historical events as the Civil war and the bloody riots of 1919 in Trinity-Pechora, the destruction of churches, transportation repressed citizens.

In Troitsko-Pechorsk the Museum houses the original documents eminent countrymen, academicians of the Russian Academy of Sciences, E. V. Kozlova – people's artist of Russia, professors of Geosciences: V. A. and V. Chizhova I. Batova, Olympic champion in cross-country skiing Bazhukova N. With., writers: G. A. I. I. Fedorov and approaches, I. E. Kulakova, former Chairman of the State Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

It has become a tradition to spend at the Museum event in honor of Victory Day, youth Day, International Museum Day, in memory of the victims of political repression, there are meetings with veterans and home front workers, artists and masters of decorative-applied arts, etc.

During its existence the Museum was visited by 50 thousand people, was held on 12, 5 thousand trips. In 2006, the Museum won in the Republican contest of museums municipalities and has been awarded grants for projects "the Road to the temple" and "Spiritual culture of the Komi people of the Urals".
