The Church of St. Nicholas Orfanos (orphans), formerly the main temple of the monastery in the Upper town district, according to modern researchers, is considered to be built with the money of the Serbian king Stefan Milutin in the XVI century. The frescoes date from 1310-1320 for years and are works of the Macedonian master of the school and are located above the Central cella, and two chapels. The frescoes depict scenes of Christ's crucifixion and the court of Pontius Pilate.
