Almost in the center of the Jewish quarter of Toledo is a small, simple and inconspicuous at first glance, the Church of San Tome. Like many others, this Church was rebuilt from the mosque after the liberation of Toledo from the Arab conquerors by king Alfonso VII. Built in the mudéjar Church of San Tome is notable for its original brick-lined bell tower, preserving appearance of Muslim minaret.

The Church has three naves, transept intersecting. Beautiful Church made altars in Baroque and plateresque. The main attraction of this Church to see here come the tourists and art lovers from around the world, is housed in a chapel in the great picture of "the count of Orgaz's tomb", written by prominent artist El Greco. This masterpiece of world art is one of the main works of the artist.

The canvas was painted in 1576 specifically for the Church of San Tome and has never been removed from it.
