The Palace Dembski – building in the Baroque family residence Dembski, built in the late seventeenth century in Torun.

The construction of the Palace for the Bishop Stanislaus Casimir Dumbskull began in 1693. Incredibly beautiful facade of the building was covered with stucco and decorated with floral and plant motifs. Today it is one of the surviving examples of Baroque in Torun.

Until the end of the eighteenth century, the Palace remained in the possession of the family Dembski, and in 1800 was sold to the Prussian officer Joachim the Averno. Fifteen years later the building was sold again, the new owner opened the Palace hotel under the name "Gdansk". The hotel has not existed for ten years, after which he was bought by the brewer Frederick Hoppe. In the seventies of the nineteenth century the building was acquired by the war office for the needs of the Prussian army, and soon there was opened the officers ' canteen. In 1874 began the reconstruction of the Palace, which was deleted by a Baroque portal and a high gable roof was replaced by a modern oval corrugated iron roof. Since then, the Palace was turned into a casino for the military.

In 1920-1924, the Palace housed the state police and fine arts Society. After the Second world war, in 1957, the Palace was transferred to the Nicolaus Copernicus University for the faculty of fine arts.

From 1976 to 1992 in the building restoration work was carried out aimed at restoring the historic appearance of the Palace. During repair work was removed a metal roof, the facade was restored, the restored entrance portal in Baroque style. Today the Palace Dembski is one of the most beautiful buildings in the Old town of toruń.
