Museum of Arts of Tunisia Dar Ben Abdallah is a Palace built in 1796 and is decorated with paintings on the wooden panels, colorful ceramic and marble tiles.
Earlier it was the home of one of the wealthy residents of the city. But in 1941, the mansion was bought by the government of Tunisia and has placed in the Office of the arts. And some time later - in 1978, the Palace was opened by the state Museum of Art.
The halls of the Museum, where exhibitions are on the first and partially the second floor of the Palace around the courtyard, which is closed from prying eyes by high walls, because at one time it was the territory of the harem, there walked the wife of the owner of the Palace. In order to enter the courtyard, you need to go on twisting and winding narrow corridor.
In the Museum you can learn about traditional arts and customs of the inhabitants of the city of Tunis. Here recreates the life of the people of the XVIII-XIX centuries.
