Street barricade in Tver is one of the most remarkable temples in the city – the Cathedral of the resurrection. He refers to the Orthodox churches of the Nativity monastery located in the same city. Since 1990-ies, the Cathedral bears the honorable status of a Cathedral, acting at the Tver diocese of the ROC. The Nativity monastery is among the most respected Orthodox convents located on the territory of Tver. Before the revolution of 1917 the monastery was neodigital and third class. Today the monastery is located in the South-Western part of Tver, not far from the river Tmaka.

At the present time from the Nativity monastery preserved the following cathedrals: the Nativity and Resurrection of Christ, hospital Church, consecrated in the name of the Holy Trinity gate Church of the Savior with adjacent traitname rooms and rectory buildings, the Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, small, situated to the South-East corner tower and some buildings made of wood.

The construction of the resurrection Cathedral was 1913, which coincided with the date of the 300-th anniversary of the founding of the Romanov dynasty. The neo-Russian style was the result of pan-European interest in traditional architecture.

The Cathedral is built in the shape of a cube and has three apses, and a big drum of the cupola, made in the form of the helmet. On the West side it is adjoined by several low porch, equipped with choirs, while its completion is made as located on the facade of the forceps. North and South vestibules below and flanked by buttresses. The Cathedral walls are made of bricks, and then covered with a thick layer of cement. As for the interior decoration of the Cathedral of the resurrection, it is not painted. In the matter of the decoration it is important to note that it is precisely stylize inherent in Pskov and Novgorod architecture elements.

In early 1936 the resurrection Cathedral was closed, and only in 1988 he was again returned to the submission of Tver and Kashira diocese. In 1992 was held the ceremony of consecration of the Cathedral by the Bishop and later the Metropolitan of Victor Oleynik. In the winter of 2000 in the village called the Master held the uncovering of the Holy relics of prepodobnomuchenica Sergius of Serebryanskogo, after which they were moved to the building of the resurrection Cathedral. It is known that Archimandrite Sergius was a clergyman of the ROC and in 2000-m to year was canonized.

In 2006, the year next to the Cathedral of the resurrection was built a small Church dedicated to the Holy Royal Martyrs – this temple was some continuation of the motives of the Cathedral, as they are both designed in a single architectural style.
