Orthodox Repninsky chapel was built in Vilnius the outskirts of Sakrete in 1797. In the 18th century were buried here, who died from epidemic diseases. Here was buried the wife of field Marshal Prince N. V. Repnin, the first Vilnius the Governor-General, Princess Natalia Alexandrovna Repnina, nee Kurakin. The chapel was erected in her memory, to the place of her burial.

The building was built in the neoclassical style, under the guidance and by architects Pietro Rossi and Carl Schildhause. For certain, it is not known whether the design of the chapel of their joint creation, or its author is only one of them, namely Karl Childhood, who later worked on the restoration project of the chapel.

In 1809, the chapel was restored. Around it was built a four-foot fence. Prince Repnin bequeathed 2500 rubles Holy Duhova the monastery, which was the chapel. The money was intended for the maintenance of the temple and performing memorial services for deceased members of the genus Repnin. For decoration of the chapel was brought Francis Smuglevich, a famous artist, founder of the Lithuanian school of painting. It is famous for its water cycle 1785 - "Architectural views of the old Vilnius and wonderful frescoes of biblical scenes, which to the present day adorn the interior and ceilings in the library of Vilnius University. Unfortunately, the icon of the Resurrection of Christ, which he wrote for the chapel, was stolen in 1812, during the French occupation.

In 1817, the chapel was again renovated. In 1847 the chapel was erected iron cross weighs 1 pood, cast specially for this purpose. In the early 20th century, with the aim to reduce pressure on the chapel and, at the same time, to improve the acoustics of a room, in the dome of the chapel were mounted four Galenika.

After the First world war near the chapel cemetery was formed. It was the burial place of Russian, Hungarian, German, Austrian, Turkish, and Polish soldiers. After the Second world war in the cemetery near the chapel appeared and Jewish graves. All of these burials in the cemetery Repninsky chapel Park Vingis continue to be kept in a proper manner.

The chapel is a stone structure built in the neoclassical style. It is a quadrangular structure, with a gable, symmetrical, tiled roof, on which is placed a delicate four-pointed cross. The fronts from the West and the East are decorated with triangular Gables and painted white semi-columns that mimic the Tuscan porticos. The walls of the building are plastered and painted in pastel peach color. Corners of the South and North facades are decorated with paired pilasters.

The front door of the chapel is framed by a rectangular opening with white, and as columns the curb. On both sides of the doors built arched Windows, with a white border. The interior of the chapel is modest, designed in the same style and design as a whole. In the centre of the chapel is a crypt in the shape of a coffin with the remains of Princess Repnina. On the right side of the entrance is the tomb, cast-iron plate which indicates that there was buried Colonel Paul G. Bibikov, who heroically died 1812 in the battle for Vilna. Opposite the entrance, on the far wall of the chapel there is the icon of the Savior.

The chapel, as expected structures of this kind, located in a quiet, peaceful place. Around the chapel there is a Park with large, old trees. The impression that the chapel guards the peace and privacy of all souls, who found next to her last resting place.

Historic site Repninsky chapel" is protected by the state. Currently, access to the chapel is closed.
