Impregnable Moravian Buchlov castle, built on a high hill above the village of Buchlovice, originally belonged to the Czech crown. About him the first time we learn from the Chronicles of the thirteenth century. Unfortunately, no evidence about the history of its construction is not preserved, which is quite surprising, because we are talking about the king's fortress. We only know that it was built on the hills Hreby for the protection of the state border from the raids of the Hungarians. Originally the building was small. She was executed in the Romanesque style. As you use the castle was constructed, reconstructed, until he turned into a well-fortified, large castle.
For several centuries, the Czech kings handed over his castle to rent a loyal vassals who did not sit idly by, and complemented and improved the Palace complex. So, in 1280-ies there was built a chapel, which miraculously resembled the chapel of Sainte Chapelle in the glorious city of Paris. As every respectable castle just had to have the knights hall, where feasts were held, and in buhlovski castle, this room was built. It happened in the XV century.
Castle actively resisted the attacks of the Hussites, was thinking of loyal supporters of the king, who planned military operations against the enemy army.
Castle Buchlov ceased to be a Royal with 1518. At first, he moved to a noble family of Geromino, and after, and to the family of Berthold who owned it until 1945, when all the property of the nobility was confiscated in favor of the state.
