Among the many museums in La Rochelle, is worth noting two that may be of interest for those traveling with children. It is a Museum of automata (mechanical toys) and the Museum of miniatures.

For the first Museum of its organizers collecting artifacts throughout France and even bought them at auction in London. It took them about thirty years to visitors wondered rejoiced and remembered their toys, looking at funny moving dolls, trains and cars that adorned the shop Windows or lived in the children's rooms in the early and mid twentieth century. Toys are not only moving, but also writing letters, playing musical instruments, playing cards and even drink coffee. In addition to toys, you can see advertising mechanical machines and animated Windows. This Museum is called unique and only in France, many items from his collection are true rarities and moved here from different antique shops and flea markets. The collection numbered about three hundred mechanical toys and other mechanisms.

Next to this Museum is a Museum of miniatures is another unique exhibition in La Rochelle. The city itself is represented in miniature form – you can see models of some of the city's buildings (e.g., station), and also model cars and ships. All layouts and models were manufactured specifically for this Museum, which opened in 1987.

Both museums are located in the former fishing quarter Gaby, close to aquarium La Rochelle and Maritime Museum.
