The history of the founding of the city Uhersky Brod is very interesting. The town, which now has a population of about 17 thousand inhabitants, appeared near the fortress, which was founded as a stronghold on the most important crossing to Hungary on the river Allsave. In the fortress lived officials who collected tribute from all who wish to cross the border of the Czech state. The fortress was built in 1131, and a few years later around a small village, then turned to the city Uhersky Brod. The fortress was rebuilt several times, in our day in its place is the Renaissance castle, which is not in the best condition.

Uhersky Brod was officially recognized by the city in 1272. City rights and, therefore, and important privileges were granted to the Bohemian king Ottokar II. Since that time the rapid development of the city. Beginning in the sixteenth century we see a perfectly fit for the happy life of the city. But there was the Thirty years war and the persecution of Protestants, which accounted for most of the residents of this locality. As a result of hostilities Uhersky Brod was almost completely destroyed.

But the city long stood abandoned: here came the significant Jewish community, which became gradually assimilated to convert Uhersky Brod.

The main attraction of the city is the Church of the Dormition of the virgin Mary, which houses an ancient icon of the Black Madonna. To worship him attracts a lot of pilgrims not only from Czech Republic but also from abroad.

Impressive looks and the town hall, decorated with a tall clock tower. The city Uhersky Brod also nice house Museum of J. A. Comenius, who was born and raised.
