The most famous and popular street in Aalborg is a pedestrian street in Jomfru-Ana-Gade, which translated sounds like "Street of the virgin Anna". Historians, ethnographers were interested in, after whom was named this so popular nowadays street. But unfortunately, in the archives with a millennial history of the city of Aalborg interesting mention of virgins named Anna could not be found.
Previously it was one of the regular streets of the city, inhabited by merchants and traders. Now Iamfree-Ana Gad are only Nightclubs, restaurants, pubs, cafes, attendance of the street is more than a thousand people a day. In may 1967 it was first discovered disco night Gaslight is one of the oldest Nightclubs in Denmark. In 1970 outside Iamfree-Ana-Gade was discovered 10 bars, a nightclub and a restaurant on the street, and in 1992 the number of establishments increased to 26 and opened the Theater of the virgin Anna.
In the morning and lunch time cafes and restaurants crowded with tourists and locals enjoying the local cuisine, drink coffee, beer. From evening till morning the street is overflowing with crowds of young people having fun in night clubs, dine in restaurants, rest from the daily hustle and bustle in pubs.
To attract visitors, the owners of establishments outside Iamfree-Ana Gad organize theme parties, fashion shows, in most bars and pubs have karaoke and live music. Most entertainment places stay open all night until 5 am.
