The River Centibar Photo: River Centibar

Centibar is the left tributary of the river Engstligen flowing in the Swiss Canton of Bern. Length Centobuchi is 5 kilometers, and the total height difference between source and mouth - about 909 meters. The Creek carries water falling from the Eastern slope of the mountain Gsur and southern slope of the mountain Bottegone in the Bernese Alps, or, as they are called, Berne Prealpha. After a long journey by water from the North Centobuchi falls into the Rhine.

Source Centobuchi is located at an altitude of about 2000 meters above sea level. The value of the channel is highly dependent on weather conditions. For example, during a thunderstorm, the water level can rise in a matter of hours. Before you fall into Engstligen, Centibar flows through Cholerae gorge, one of the most beautiful places in the Bernese Oberland. It is not so large, its length is 100 meters away, but it is literally filled with numerous waterfalls, watermills, and moulded by the sea with boulders - former pinnacles. Down in the gorge can be specially constructed bridge, turning into the stairs leading almost to the water.

First got here the person affects how greatly transformed Centibar. How innocuous it seems before you fall into the gorge, so much rage it appeared in the temporary confinement of water. Besides, who wants to enjoy this miracle of nature, it is better to come here in the warmer months. In the winter, and also in case of bad weather the gorge is closed to visitors to protect those from possible accidents.
