The archaeological Museum in the Greek city of Aegion was opened on 6 August 1994. The Museum is located in the old city market was built in 1890 by the famous Greek architect Ernst Ziller. In 1995, after a strong earthquake, the building of the Museum and a part of unique artifacts was significantly damaged, and only in 1999, after extensive restoration works Archaeological Museum reopened its doors to visitors.

Archaeological findings, presented in the Museum, covering a huge time period, from the Neolithic period to the late Roman period, perfectly illustrating the history and development of the culture of the region. In the Museum you can see ceramics, bronze, ivory and glass, sculpture, statues, jewelry, and various funerary artifacts, tools and more.

Among the most interesting and valuable exhibits of the Museum it is worth noting marble statue Aigiochos (1st century BC), painted a bowl for fruit of Neolithic settlements Sylivaina (6000 BC) and the jar with three handles (2nd half of the 15th century BC). Of particular interest are antefix with the image of palmettes and clay SIMA from the archaic temple of ancient Aigeira (500 BC), and Corinthian vase depicting sphinxes and eagle (690 BC) and necklace of carnelian and glass beads (14-13 th century BC).

Today the Archaeological Museum is one of the most interesting and popular attractions in the Egion. In the Museum's atrium regularly hosts various cultural events.
