Next to the main attraction of Alanya - Byzantine fortress on the mountain - you'll notice beautiful Suleymaniye mosque, built during the reign of Seljuks. It is believed that the main reason that the Seljuks paid Alanya very much attention, is the fact that it was located closer to the road to Konya (the capital of the Seljuks) than Antalya.

Suleymaniye mosque was built in 1231 at the top of the fortress just outside Its-Kale (which is also called "Inner castle") during the conversion of Sultan Aladdin Keykubat I in the city. But the mosque was destroyed in the following years, and again it was built in the XVI century under Sultan Suleiman the Lawgiver. The mosque has one minaret. Now it is called differently: the mosque of Aladdin, a Fortified mosque, Art. It is built of stone and has a square shape. To ensure good acoustics mosque, under the dome is suspended from fifteen balls of small size. During the prayer is especially noticeable. The Windows and gates of the mosque, made of wood, are an illustrative example of the art of wood carving of the Ottoman Empire.
