Museum of fine arts is located in Alicante, in the Palace, once belonging to the Earl of Lumieres. The Palace was built in the 18th century, in the period between 1748 and 1808 for years. The building is known as the Gravina Palace.

In 1998 in the Gravina Palace were begun restoration work, which lasted until 2001. Today the Palace houses the Museum of fine arts, presenting visitors an amazing collection of paintings and sculptures. The Museum began its existence on 14 December 2001.

The Museum displays a large collection of paintings, numbering up to 500 different artists, mostly immigrants from Alicante and the surrounding area since the 16th century to the early 20th century. Here are the works of renowned artists such as Vicente Lopez Portana (portrait of Ferdinand IV), Antonio Gisbert, Joaquin Agrasot, Lorenzo Casanova, Fernando Cabrera, the sculptor Salzillo and others. Each of the works presented in the relevant thematic categories – portrait, still life, landscape, social motives, religious, intellectual, art and others. In addition, the Museum has collections of furniture of different periods, textiles, household items and furnishings.

The Museum is equipped with modern multimedia devices, thanks to which the audience can enjoy watching audiovisual presentations.

The Museum hosts a variety of educational programs, organizes seminars, and by supporting and developing young talents.
